Tiny apartments are all the rage these days, and it’s interesting that in almost every one we have shown recently, there is the clever Clei Murphy bed, sold by Resource Furniture in North America. Graham Hill has one in his LifeEdited apartment; They put one in the Making Room model home; Now we see it in the Green Kinder House designed by Massimiliano Mandarini for the MADE Expo in Milan.
The open floor plan does away with pesky walls that only eat up livable space. Rather than dividing rooms with walls, the home’s flexible functions are defined mainly by its furnishings. The living area features a sofa that slides into three positions, allowing the user to arrange the seating as desired. But there’s more to this sofa than meets the eye! It’s actually a Murphy bed that sleeps two and conveniently folds out of the way when not in use.
This apartment doesn’t have a hot pink bar like the model in New York, but it does share the vibrant color schemes. Nor does it allow for much privacy. Graham Hill’s minimalist white box with the moving wall is looking better and better.
