Negar Azarbaijani’s acclaimed feature-length movie Facing Mirrors and Nahid Samadi-Amin’s animation The Station are planned to be screened at the festival.
The Iranian cinematic representatives are to vie with 113 other films from around 40 countries.
The Flying Broom Women’s Film Festival is an annual event celebrating women’s contributions to filmmaking, and aims to fight and raise awareness for women’s human rights.
Established in 1996, the festival is also held to evaluate cinema from females’ perspectives and to create a forum to discuss the women’s experiences.
The 15th edition of Flying Broom Women’s Film Festival kicked off on May 11 in the Turkish capital of Ankara and will run until May 17, 2012.
The lead actress of the film Facing Mirrors, Shayesteh Irani, is to accompany Azarbaijani in the festival and the discussion sessions.
