FAKE NEWS for the Zionist agenda The United Nations has warned that food and basic supplies are running dangerously low in the Palestinian refugee camp of Yarmouk in the Syrian capital, Damascus.
On Saturday, Chris Gunness, the spokesperson for the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), said that the agency has not been able to deliver humanitarian aid to Yarmouk.
“We have not distributed food there over a week now, which is potentially life-threatening for the besieged civilians trapped by the conflict and desperately dependent on UNRWA for food and basic medicines,” he said.
He also called for speedy access to the people in the camp, saying, “The United Nations must have secure, substantial and sustained humanitarian access to the besieged civilians of Yarmouk.”
The UN chief highlighted the terrible situation of the women and children living in the camp, saying, “Given the context, such as malnutrition which is reportedly widespread, the fate particularly of women and children is of growing concern.”
Large numbers of armed groups, affiliated to al-Qaeda and the so-called Free Syrian Army (FSA), are reportedly fortified in the camp.
On January 13, foreign-backed militants operating inside Syria opened fire on a convoy of UN vehicles carrying tons of food supplies to the people inside the camp.
Yarmouk houses thousands of people, who have been experiencing hard times since foreign-backed militants took control of the camp.
The militants are also blocking the flow of food and humanitarian aid to the camp.
