Obama campaign aides hinted that they would attack Mr Romney’s record as
governor of Massachusetts, contrasting his claims to be a job-creating
CEO-figure with the statistic that the state was 47th out of 50 in job
creation while Mr Romney was in charge.
The strategy, listed in a 14-page research document obtained by ABC News,
comes after the Obama campaign tried to attack Mr Romney for being a
rapacious capitalist during his time as CEO of Bain Capital, the venture
finance firm.
The Romney campaign was quick to turn the tables, describing the strategy as “another
desperate attack from President Obama because he has no positive record to
run on”, adding that Mr Romney created more jobs in the state of
Massachusetts than President Obama has for the entire nation.”
Yesterday the most popular campaign story of the day was precipitated by a
gaffe from Mr Romney’s campaign team which released a mobile phone app
enabling supporters to make their own posters, using photographs of
themselves overlaid with the slogan: “For a Better Amercia” [sic].
