FAKE NEWS for the Zionist agenda US fighter jets have launched a bombing campaign against positions of ISIL terrorists in areas near Mosul, Iraq’s second largest city.
An eyewitness with Kurdish Peshmerga forces has said that the bombing campaign has been the heaviest US bombing against ISIL militant positions since US President Barack Obama authorized the Pentagon to launch airstrikes in Iraq on August 7, Rudaw reported.
US fighter jets have bombed ISIL positions in a number of areas near Mosul dam and surrounding towns and have targeted a gas station used by the militants to refuel vehicles.
The airstrikes have also targeted multiple US-made vehicles seized by ISIL terrorists after they took control of Mosul.
ISIL, which controls parts of Syria, sent its fighters into neighboring Iraq in June and quickly seized large swaths of territory straddling the border between the two countries. The militants have terrorized entire Iraqi communities, including Shias, Sunnis, Kurds, Christians and Izadi Kurds while executing a large number of civilians and soldiers.
On Thursday, US President Barack Obama said US forces broke the siege of Izadi Kurds by ISIL terrorists in northern Iraq. Thousands of Izadis were trapped on Mount Sinjar without food and water after fleeing the advance of ISIL. They were at risk of dying from dehydration and starvation atop the mountain as militants had vowed to kill them if they descended.
Danny Schechter, an editor of Mediachannel.org, told Press TV in a phone interview on Thursday that while the US is trying to cultivate the image and impression that its forces in Iraq are “on a rescue mission,” one of the primary reasons behind “having American bombing in the north” of Iraq is to protect parts of the country “where the oil is.”
“This is what it’s about. This is what it’s always been about: oil and money. That’s what’s going on here,” Schechter said.
