ISAF said in a Tuesday statement that the trooper “died as a result of a non-battle related injury in eastern Afghanistan today.”
The alliance did not reveal the nationality of the soldier or the exact location of the incident.
American soldiers have been mostly stationed in eastern Afghan provinces.
More than 96 foreign soldiers, most of them Americans, have lost their lives in Afghanistan since the beginning of this year, according to official figures released by the website icasualties.org.
The increasing number of military casualties in Afghanistan has caused widespread anger in the US and other NATO member states, undermining public support for the Afghan war.
Insecurity continues to rise across Afghanistan despite the presence of tens of thousands of US-led troops.
