US man shot for refusing to show hands

A man was shot by law enforcement officers Monday after he refused to show his hands and said he would shoot officers, Sacramento police said.

The shooting was at about noon Monday in the 100 block of Seavey Circle, where police had been responded to multiple calls of domestic violence just after 11:30 a.m., according to police Officer Michelle Gigante.

One of the calls came from the man himself who said he was armed and dangerous, Gigante said.

When the man allegedly threatened police, one of the officers went to his car and returned with a rifle. Gigante said the man continued to resist police orders to show his hands and then lunged toward the officer’s partner. The officer with the rifle fired multiple shots.

The man was shot in the upper body and transported to an area hospital. Gigante said he was in serious condition. He was described as in his 20s.

No one else was injured during the ordeal.

It wasn’t known yet if the man or the woman there was a dispute with are tenants at the public housing complex. news10
