Bloodiest day in Gaza: close to 100 Palestinians killed today. via SkyNews

re-blogged from mondoweiss.net:

“You gotta see this to believe it. From Emily Manna’s twitter feed: “Front page of the  today. Shameful coverage.”

You sure that the Washington Post? Here’s the Post’s facsimile of the whole page:

Here’s the 11th paragraph of the story:

The Palestinian death toll from the conflict rose Saturday to more than 330, including about 60 children, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.

I get it when U.S. publications highlight American deaths overseas. But Israeli deaths? Who’s kidding who.

This post updates an earlier post on the Washington Post’s ignoring Palestinian injuries. Original post below:

Today we received the video above of Israeli police violently dispersing Palestinians from the plaza of the Al Aqsa mosque in occupied Jerusalem July 18.

The video is consistent with another disturbing video at the Washington Post site. “Israel forces storm al-Aqsa mosque.”

Ma’an reports dozens of Palestinian injuries in a story headlined “110 injured, 12 detained in clashes at Aqsa compound”

Dozens of Palestinians were injured in Jerusalem after clashes broke out with Israeli forces at the Al-Aqsa compound in the Old City on Friday amid heightened tensions after the Israeli invasion of Gaza the day before.

Dozens suffered bruises, fractures, and cuts in clashes that broke out in the holy compound as Israeli forces raided the area firing stun grenades, rubber-coated steel bullets, and assaulted paramedics and journalists who were forced out of the compound during the clashes.

Medics told Ma’an that more than 110 injured arrived at the Al-Aqsa clinic, a number of whom were transferred to hospitals.

Al-Aqsa director Omar al-Kiswani, and the Palestinian Authority’s Jerusalem minister Adnan al-Husseini were shot with rubber-coated steel bullets in the foot and thigh respectively.

The Islamic endowments board director Abdulatheem Salhab and Fayez an-Obaidi were shot with rubber bullets in the chest.

The Washington Post account of the storming does not mention the Palestinian injuries. The account is largely taken verbatim from the Israeli police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld. Don’t Palestinians count?

Update. My source tells me that the Washington Post account misrepresented the situation in other ways. The source writes:

The Washington Post article states:

“According to Israel Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld, following Friday prayers at the mosque compound, about 200 to 300 masked youths caused disturbances by throwing stones at policemen stationed nearby. After 20 minutes of disturbances, police entered the compound and arrested seven people for rioting.”

But there’s only about 10 total “masked youth”.

Moreover, in the first video above, the cheering begins when the Israeli forces begin to back off.
As they back off, non-violent women protesters move forward, as you can see in the video.

There was about 20 minutes of exchange prior to this of warning shots/stones from the kids. Very light.

But it wasn’t until the women marching forward they blazed ahead and started to tear things up. Again, the 200 to 300 youth is a pure lie which can be seen.”
