Several points of comparison with existing filters illustrate that Alexapure Pro clearly surpasses the old industry standards for emergency water filtration.

Sandpoint, ID (PR Web) June 12, 2015 – Alexapure, LLC recently unveiled its Alexapure Pro® Water Filtration System, a groundbreaking product that could potentially make other gravity-fed filters obsolete. Alexapure Pro features cutting-edge technology that clearly surpasses the old industry standard for emergency water filtration.

Matt Redhawk, the entrepreneur behind the popular preparedness brands My Patriot Supply, Patriot Pantry, and now Alexapure, gave this analogy:

“In the water filtration industry many people are confused by similar looking products, being led to believe that they will all function and perform in the same way. Take a car, as an example. Every car will have four tires, bumpers, exhaust, and a windshield. Just like a car, however, what is under the hood and what truly impacts performance varies greatly from one model to the next.”

Take, for example, the standard Black Berkey® Purification elements, sold and distributed by New Millennium Concepts. Redhawk says, “What I believe to be the biggest design flaw with the Berkey filters is that the instructions require you to flush unfiltered water through the clean side of the filter in order to prime it. This is because a basic carbon product, such as in the case of the Berkey filter, is hydrophobic by nature. This means it naturally creates a resistance to water. The act of priming the filter is really nothing more than forcing the filter to be broken in so that it can begin to process water. The somewhat dangerous design flaw that we see with filters of this type is the priming requirement. Assuming you even have water pressure in an emergency, presumably your tap is not already filtered. This means you’re potentially contaminating your new filters just to get them to operate.”

Redhawk, along with a team of engineers spent the better part of two years overcoming this and other flaws traditionally present in the emergency water filtration industry. The launch of the flagship product, the Alexapure Pro, was highly successful in part due to the improved design that eliminated the need for priming.

Alexapure Pro is a truly unique, two-stage filter that utilizes a combination of time-tested technology as well as new, innovative processes that put both new and traditional components to work more efficiently. As a result a single Alexapure Pro filter is listed with a capacity for up to 5,000 gallons, while traditional Black Berkey Elements are only listed at up to 3,000 gallon capacity.

Alexapure Pro filters are also very unique in the sense that they are 100% Made in the USA. Redhawk states “It was important to us to have our filters Made in the USA. While we obviously have water quality concerns of our own, our standards are still much higher than other places overseas. What might pass as a good quality filter in India, for example, simply wouldn’t hold up to most USA standards. It most certainly wouldn’t hold up to our own internal standards. Having the filters manufactured here in the States allows us a much greater control over the process. Unlike our largest competitors, who are consistently backordered and backlogged, having our filters produced here eliminates lengthy transit times to get the filters from the factory to our warehouse, and ultimately in the hands of our customers.”

You would think that a scientifically improved design, increased capacity, and a Made in USA claim would be enough, but Redhawk says “no”.

“We wanted to build a better mousetrap, for sure. The most important piece of this puzzle for me was to innovate and produce a superior product, here in the USA, while at the same time making this product more affordable to end-users.”

New Millennium Concepts, the company behind the Black Berkey Purification Elements, the Big Berkey, and others, implements what is referred to as MAP pricing. This stands for Minimum Advertised Price, and means the manufacturer strictly controls the price a dealer must charge for their product. At the time of this release the price on the Big Berkey filtration system was listed at $258, and prices can hit as much $312 if you opt for the optional arsenic and fluoride reduction filters they sell. Alexapure Pro is an all-in-one solution, addressing all contaminates without the need for special fluoride and arsenic add-on filters, and currently retails for $197.

“Innovation is key,” Redhawk was recently quoted as saying in a local print publication. “If you’re not innovating and always pushing to make a product better you’re blatantly abusing your biggest asset – your customer. I have no ill-will towards the Berkey folks. If it came down to having a Berkey system or no emergency water filtration at all I would own a Berkey. The only difference now is that consumers have a choice. I believe wholeheartedly that we have built a superior product with the Alexapure Pro and I’m thrilled to be able to afford customers a choice. Passionately Innovated – Pioneered for Perfection. That’s our motto, and we mean every bit of it.”

Company representatives indicated that since the launch of their Alexapure Pro emergency water filtration product that they have also launched two portable filtration options – the Alexapure GO water filtration bottle alongside the Survival Spring, a portable “straw-type” filtration product.
