Wayne Rooney unlikely to be allowed to leave Manchester United

As of May 13, 2013, Wayne Rooney has done his best to upset the already unsettled Manchester United applecart after having handed in a transfer request at the same time that 27-year manager Sir Alex Ferguson handed in his resignation and the club appointed David Moyes as his successor.

The former Everton player is likely to have to wait for his old manager to decide his fate upon his arrival according to the Telegraph. Moyes sold Rooney to United in 2004 for a massive £20 million and he will once again be sitting in the position of having the same manager decide his fate for the future.

Goal.com writer Oliver Platt believes that Rooney’s arrogance and impulsiveness will see the striker live to regret his request. In response to Rooney not being selected to play over the weekend Sir Alex Ferguson had the following comment:

“I think he wants to think things through in his mind; I think that’s a good idea. We’re not going to let him go. I think he’s maybe a bit frustrated that he’s been taken off once or twice in the last few weeks.”

More than likely, Rooney will be going nowhere this summer. However, there is always the chance that a big change could be made just as has been done in the past for the club to move in the right direction.
