(Scroll down for video) A British politician has slammed Israel for acting like Nazis since 1948 against the Palestinians, the politician said in a statement on his website.
A liberal Democrat who accused “the Jews in Israel of inflicting atrocities against Palestinians every day,” has apologized for the timing of the statement.
Bradford East MP David Ward, said in a blog that he had been “trying to make it clear that everyone has to learn the lessons of the Holocaust.”
He made his first comments on the eve of the Day of Holocaust Remembrance.
On Friday, his party condemned his use of language.
He also was summoned to a meeting with the leaders of his party.
Last week, he said he was “saddened that the Jews, who suffered incredible levels of persecution
during the Holocaust, could in a few years of their own liberation of the death camps inflict atrocities against Palestinians in the new State of Israel and continue to do so daily in the West Bank and Gaza.”
He said his criticism “of the Jews since 1948 in the Palestinian territories in the name of the State of Israel remain as strong as ever.”
He added: “I will continue making criticism of the actions against Palestinian, in the strongest terms possible for as long as Israel continues to oppress the Palestinian people.”
