Argentina Jewish center bombing |
19 years after the worst terror attack against Jews in Argentina, Iran and Argentina have agreed to investigate the incident, according to press reports in Argentina.
Argentina and Iran have reached a breakthrough in the investigation of a Jewish center bombing that killed 85 people in Buenos Aires 19 years ago.
They have agreed to establish an international truth commission led by an independent legal expert with high moral authority to examine the worst terrorist attack in Argentina. The commission may examine the evidence gathered by Argentine
prosecutors and travel to Tehran, in order to question Iranian suspects. Then, the commission will make recommendations to the two countries over how to proceed.
President Cristina Fernandez praised the agreement signed on Sunday by the foreign ministers Hector Timerman and Ali Akbar Salehi as historic.
Now, the plan must be approved by the parliaments of both nations.
