99-percenters rally against Wells Fargo

The demonstration comes as the 99 percenters (Occupy protesters) say the Wall Street bank’s tax-dodging, home foreclosures and predatory lending have crippled the economy.

“We want wells Fargo to stop foreclosures, stop evicting families out of their homes and to pay their fair share of taxes,” said Doris Wallace a demonstrator.

“Three years ago Wells Fargo did not pay any taxes at all so we want them to pay. Why are the middle class and the poor continuing to pay and lose all services?” she continued.

“We the people need to stand ourselves up and say you know what rich greedy people, you want to stand on my shoulders; fine, but I’m not going to let you stand on my back anymore while you’re keeping me down on the ground,” said another Occupy LA protester Donald Kronos.

The protesters have been using the slogan, “We are the 99 percent” to distinguish themselves from the one percent of Americans who are in possession of the greatest portion of the nation’s wealth.

The Occupy movement emerged after a group of people on September 17 rallied in New York’s financial district under the motto of ‘Occupy Wall Street,’ protesting corruption, poverty as well as social inequality in the US.
