On Saturday, Afghan Interior Minister Bismillah Mohammadi said in a statement to lawmakers who questioned him over the incident, that the February 8 strike was not coordinated with Afghan police.
“We were not involved in that incident. NATO did not coordinate that attack with our police,” said Mohammadi, adding that Afghan authorities had assigned a delegation to question NATO over the issue.
The attack took place in Kapisa Province.
NATO forces admitted on Wednesday that the eight civilians killed in the strike were children aged between six and 14.
The US-led invasion of Afghanistan took place in 2001. The offensive removed the Taliban from power, but insecurity continues to rise across Afghanistan, despite the presence of thousands of US-led troops there.
The US-led war in Afghanistan, with civilian and military casualties at record high, has become the longest war in US history.
