A MAN wanted for questioning over the death of a three-year-old girl in Brisbane will appear in a NSW court after being arrested on traffic matters.
Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of the girl, whose body was found in a house in Petrie, north of Brisbane, on Saturday afternoon.
A Queensland police spokesman says detectives have travelled to NSW to speak with a man in relation to the death.
But no extradition order has yet been made.
A NSW police spokeswoman said the man had been intercepted during a routine traffic stop in Ulmarra, just north of Grafton in northern NSW, about 9am (AEDT) on Sunday.
The man, 44, was found to be driving an unregistered, uninsured car and was driving while disqualified, she said.
He was also found to have an outstanding warrant related to disqualified driving.
He initially gave police a false name before he was arrested and taken to Grafton police station.
The man is due to appear in Grafton Local Court on Tuesday morning for the alleged traffic offences.
Queensland police have not said why they want to speak with him.
They are also yet to release any details of the girl’s death.
