Body found in Yarra River

Police divers searching for a man who was believed to have jumped into Melbourne’s Yarra River have found a man’s body in the river.

It is thought the missing man and his friend had jumped into the river near Federation Square about 9pm (AEDT) on Tuesday.

The man’s friend was pulled from the water and taken to hospital suffering from hypothermia.

Search and Rescue, Water Police, local police units and the air wing continued searching for the man and early Wednesday a man’s body was discovered near the Princes Bridge.

It is yet to be formally identified.
