Former NSW Labor MP Karyn Paluzzano has been charged with rorting her staff entitlements and lying to the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC).
Her five charges came before Sydney’s Downing Centre Local Court on Monday, but the 51-year-old former Penrith MP did not appear and was represented by a lawyer.
She was charged with misconduct in public office between August 30, 2006, and June 28, 2007, and two counts of obtaining money by false or misleading statements on September 8, 2006, and September 23, 2006.
Paluzzano is also charged with two counts of giving false and misleading evidence to ICAC on April 16, 2010.
The first money charge alleges that on August 8, 2006, with the intent of obtaining the services of Jennifer Launt under a scheme known as sitting day relief, it was falsely claimed that electoral officer Tim Horan worked at parliament and Ms Launt worked at the Penrith electoral office on September 7.
The second money charge alleges the same details but the date is September 23, 2006.
The matter was adjourned to the same court on February 2, 2012.
