The full implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) regarding Iran’s nuclear program may happen in the first three months of next year, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said Tuesday.
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Iran signed the JCPOA with the five permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany on July 14, to ensure the peaceful nature of Tehran’s nuclear program in exchange for sanctions relief.
“It is clear that the most important thing here is Iran’s implementation of its obligations under JCPOA… According to my estimates, the date of implementation will take place if not in January, then in the first quarter [of 2016],” Ryabkov said.
The deputy foreign minister added that Russia would finish exporting over 8.5 metric tons of Iran’s enriched uranium out of the Islamic republic by the end of 2015.
Under the deal, Tehran agreed to reduce its stock of enriched uranium, decrease the number of centrifuges in the country and reconfigure the Arak heavy-water reactor, as well as refrain from any uranium enrichment at its Fordow facility.
