Iran, Oman hold joint military friendship committee meeting

TEHRAN (ISNA)- Iran and Oman held the 12th joint military friendship committee meeting in Iran.

The meeting was attended by an Omani 12-member delegation led by Omani Head of Iran-Oman joint military friendship committee Hamed bin Rashid al Balushi. The Iranian side by chaired by Rare Admiral Asghar Saleh-Esfahani, the Iranian head of the committee.

The two sides discussed importance of developing bilateral strategic ties as well as important position of bilateral ties in the region in terms of geopolitics, geo-strategy and necessity of expanding military-defense ties.

The two sides also stressed boosting political, economic and cultural ties.

Iran and Oman conferred on naval, training, sports, cultural and technical cooperation.

The four-day meeting kicked off in Tehran on Saturday and would close on Wednesday. Iran and Oman plan to hold a naval drill.
