JCA and the Wolf family have launched the JCA Frank Wolf Executive Leadership Development Program.
The Sydney community will remember Frank, who passed away in April 2018, as a community man dedicated to and passionate about our local Jewish Community in NSW. From his work over many years with JCA, and his leadership involvement with North Shore Temple Emanuel, he had a clear vision of how to shape a vibrant and successful community. Frank was always about making things happen and that, in turn, depended on the people around him. The development of people was a purpose he held close to his heart. It was his belief that that good leaders also mentor and develop others – paying it forward, so to speak. Frank was a prime example of that.
As part of Frank’s legacy, his family, colleagues at Abacus, property industry colleagues and JCA have established the “JCA Frank Wolf Executive Leadership Development Fund” that will initially fund the program for the next eight to ten years.
The bespoke program, being curated by Dr Alexandra Walker, a not-for-profit leadership expert at the Centre for Social Impact in the UNSW Business School, will cultivate and nurture individuals on the path to senior leadership positions in the local Jewish community.
Program content will include advance leadership and Jewish knowledge as well as sessions designed for particular needs with topics including:
- Leading for purpose: what’s ‘Jewish’ about being a ‘Jewish Leader’?
- The evolving Jewish landscape and the changing nature of our community
- My Jewish Organisation: A Great Place to Work
- Engaging the dis-engaged
- Super Team vs super leader
- Strategy: development and implementation
- NFP governance and culture
- Measuring outcomes and impact
- Building leadership resilience for me and my team
- Story telling as a leadership tool
The eight inaugural participants were nominated by their Presidents or CEOs of JCA members organisations and will be inducted into the program later in the month. They include Garron Forman (Mount Sinai College), Tany Milner (Emanuel School), Lynda Fisher (Moriah College), Rachel Swartz (Y2i), Shari Lowe (JCA), Lynda Dave (Montefiore), Rachel Tanny (COA) and Alon Meltzer (Shalom).
Garron Forman deputy principal of Mount Sinai College is looking forward to starting the program saying: “The opportunity to develop my leadership skills is something I am passionate about. Not only for me, but in my role I also need to mentor and assist teachers – some of whom are in their initial years of employment. Helping to develop them will be a real opportunity to give back, not only to this program but to the man whose legacy made it possible”.
“As a family we are humbled to honour our father this way. It is a true testament to the man he was,” Jonathan Wolf concluded.
