A 24-year-old man has died after his car left the road and hit a tree in Melbourne’s south.
The man was driving a Ford utility on the South Gippsland Freeway in Dandenong South when it left the road and struck a tree at 7am (AEDT) on Saturday.
The man died at the scene, while his 22-year-old passenger was taken to Dandenong Hospital with minor injuries, police say.
The death takes Victoria’s road toll to 44, compared to 32 for the same time last year.
