Man faces torture charges after abduction

A man has been charged with attempted murder, torture and stalking over the alleged abduction of a woman in south-east Queensland.

The 51-year-old man is alleged to have entered a residence at Flinders View, near Ipswich, with a knife on Wednesday night.

Police say he punched the woman in the head, then dragged her into a car and drove off.

The woman escaped the vehicle.

The East Ipswich man faces charges of attempted murder, torture, unlawful stalking, entering a dwelling with intent, deprivation of liberty, assault occasioning bodily harm and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

He appeared in the Ipswich Magistrates Court on Friday and was remanded in custody to reappear in the same court on February 1.
