The NSW Easter long weekend road toll has risen to two after a man was killed in a car crash in the state’s north.
Police say the accident happened on the Kamilaroi Highway at Curlewis about 5.15am (AEST) on Saturday.
The male driver died at the scene after his car left the road and hit a tree.
It is thought no other vehicle was involved.
It follows the death of a 61-year-old man in a crash on Cowpasture Road, at Leppington in Sydney’s south west on Friday morning.
Police urged motorists to drive sensibly as they continue Operation Tortoise, a five-day blitz on misbehaviour on the state’s roads.
“It is disappointing to see the holiday road toll has risen overnight, and to see drivers who have no regard for the road rules and for other motorists safety,” Inspector Phil Brooks said in a statement.
