Parts of Darwin are on lockdown, as NT Police close in on a man accused of beheading a man in NSW five days ago.
NT Police say they have located the vehicle driven by Jonathon Andrew Stenberg, a suspect in relation to the murder on June 21 of Edward Kelly, 54, at Broadwater in Northern NSW.
Commander Richard Bryson from the Crime Division said Stenberg was considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached.
Police roadblocks have been set up around several streets on the outskirts of Darwin.
“Members of the public are urged to not approach strangers and to stay indoors,” Cmdr Bryson said.
“While we do not wish to cause panic the public’s safety is our number one priority,” he said.
It is thought Stenberg is in possession of numerous firearms.
