A teenager has died and another is in hospital with serious head injuries following a single vehicle crash northeast of Melbourne.
Police believe an 18-year-old Mill Park man lost control of his car, which veered off Bonds Road at Lower Plenty and crashed through a fence before rolling several times, about 10.50pm (AEDT) on Monday.
The teenage driver died at the scene, while his teenage female passenger was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital with serious head injuries, a police statement said.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
The death brings the state’s road toll to 19, six more than at the same time last year.
