In trying to outrun police in suburban Melbourne a woman allegedly ran a red light, crashed into a car, reached speeds of up to 120km/h, drove down an embankment and then tried to escape on foot.
But the 29-year-old disqualified driver could not evade the long arm of the law and was soon taken into custody on Tuesday night.
The pursuit started when police tried to intercept her in a supermarket car park at Wantirna South in Melbourne’s east at 9.15pm (AEST) and ended up seven minutes later on an embankment between Kingsford and Tamar streets, Bayswater.
She tried running away but was soon caught by police.
The woman was taken to hospital with minor injuries while her Ford sedan was impounded under hoon legislation.
She is expected to face a number of charges including evade police and conduct endangering life.
