A university campus is shown in this file photo.
For the longest time I hesitated blogging about this story as I felt that it just couldn’t be true. It seemed more like something you might see on The Onion. But it turns out to be completely true – sadly.
According to the Age.com, Australian student Rose Ashton-Weir is suing her high school, Geelong Grammar, for inadequate academic support because she failed to get into law school at the University of Sydney.
Rose’s mother is also suing for lost income as she “gave up her chocolate fortune cookie business – which she had expected to make $450,000 over three years – because her daughter moved from Geelong to live with her in New South Wales. She is also seeking compensation for $39,000 in rent paid when they moved to another house in Sydney.”
What’s next? Rioting against tuition fee raises that have barely any impact? Oh wait, scratch that….
