Square Enix announced today that a reboot to the stealth-based game, “Thief,” is planned to release next year on the Playstation 4 and other next-gen consoles. “Thief” places gamers in the role of a master thief who lurks in the shadows and steals, almost exactly what would be expected of a title named “Thief.” Gamers are, however, free to choose how to plunder their ill-gotten wares and the series is known for the open freedom it gives players. This is something that won’t change for the next-gen reboot.
Developed by Eidos Montreal, the studio responsible for “Deus Ex: Human Revolution, “Thief” will be the cover story for the April edition of Game Informer. Square Enix revealed the cover art for the upcoming issue which features the dark cloaked protagonist of “Thief,” Garrett.
“Thief” will be hitting next-generation systems and PC sometime in 2014. Fans can expect much more information to be revealed for the game when Game Informer’s April issue hits newsstands.
