Shiban, who is also a member of the transitional justice team in NDC, said he expected the law “should be adopted by Yemen’s government right after the National Dialogue.”
He also referred to one of the main projects conducted by his organization this year in Yemen’s southern city of Abyan.
He said that during a meeting with a number of children and parents, who were victims of drone strikes, the right group noticed how much assassination drone strikes had affected ordinary people in the area.
Shiban said that the US drone strikes had resulted in terrorizing the children from going to school or farmers from working on their farms.
“The drone strike is not just the matter of killing one single person. You’re destroying the whole community by just one drone strike,” Shiban stated.
The United States has stepped up its drone operations in Yemen over the past few years. On June 1, seven people died in a drone attack in Abyan province.
According to the Washington-based think tank, the New America Foundation, the US drone attacks in Yemen almost tripled in 2012.
In April, Yemeni National Organization for Defending Rights and Freedoms said the US drones had conducted more than 80 attacks in the country last year.
Washington has come under fire for increasing the drone attacks in Yemen, where the people have held many demonstrations to condemn the violation of Yemen’s sovereignty by the airstrikes.
