US, Jordan to hold massive drill in May

The Eager Lion military exercise would involve 8,000 troops from five continents.

On Sunday, US Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Martin Dempsey met with his Jordanian counterpart, Lieutenant General Mashal Mohammed Zabin in the Jordanian capital Amman.

The two sides discussed the maneuvers scheduled to be carried out during the military exercise, which will be held in northern Jordanian areas near the Syrian border.

Reports say Jordan’s Army is currently equipped with 46 F-5 warplanes and 69 F-16 fighter jets.

The United States and nine other countries also staged a joint military exercise, codenamed Main Connection 2012, in Bahrain from April 8 to 18.
