BAREFOOT and looking dishevelled in a prison tracksuit, Joel Morehu-Barlow has appeared in Brisbane Magistrates Court charged with defrauding Queensland Health of $11m.
Adam Magill, for Barlow, 36, had requested his client not be made to appear, but Magistrate Paul Cluck denied the request.
Barefoot, and looking tired and dishevelled in a brown prison tracksuit, Barlow was remanded in custody to reappear on January 16 on one charge of defrauding Queensland Health of $11 million.
Earlier, he was escorted by detectives from the State Crime Operations Command from Royal Brisbane Hospital to the Brisbane Central Watchhouse.
Mr Magill told reporters after the short hearing that Barlow was “devastated, totally devastated” by the charge.
“His health is my primary concern,” Mr Magill said.
