Ehab Taleb was one of three men arrested over the incident
The man arrested over the death of a young reveller who drowned in Darling Harbour following a brawl will fight his manslaughter charge.
Ehab Taleb, 22, was today granted bail in Central Local Court following the fight that broke out between a small group of men early yesterday.
A 19-year-old man fell into the harbour during the brawl and could not be rescued. His body was found a short time later.
Darling Harbour brawl … police divers search for the man before his body was found.
Mr Taleb was last night charged with manslaughter, but today his lawyer told the court he would fight those charges.
The court was told Mr Taleb had no history of violence, was unemployed and a full-time student.
He was granted bail on strict conditions, including that he not enter the Darling Harbour area and that he pay $5000.
He is also not to associate with two other men charged over the brawl.
A 23-year-old from Macquarie Fields and a 24-year-old man from Birrong have each been charged with affray.
Mr Taleb’s matter will go before Downing Centre Local Court again in April.
