This essay explains how many pagans perform ritual animal sacrifice that is directly tied to the jewish tradition, and not authentically European.
Misguided Pagans practicing Judeo-Christianity / Subversives within European Paganism:
Sacrifice is the most sincere and meaningful gift. especially blood sacrifice.”
Im preparing a Blót to Freyja as a blessing to two friends who are soon to be married. My tribe will be together for this. It will most likely be a sheep or a pig. We will have a ceremony and dedication to the deity and a thanks and blessing over the animal thanking it for the nourishment and sacrifice it will give. It will be dressed and prepared by the tribe.”
Biblical/Torah examples:
Numbers 6:14
He shall present his offering to the LORD: one male lamb a year old without defect for a burnt offering and one ewe-lamb a year old without defect for a sin offering and one ram without defect for a peace offering.
1 Kings 3:4
The king went to Gibeon to offer sacrifices, for that was the most important high place, and Solomon offered a thousand burnt offerings on that altar.
Samuel 24:25
David built an altar to the LORD there and sacrificed burnt offerings and fellowship offerings. Then the LORD answered his prayer in behalf of the land, and the plague on Israel was stopped.
Leviticus 1
The Lord called to Moses and spoke to him from the Tent of Meeting. He said, “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘When any of you brings an offering to the Lord, bring as your offering an animal from either the herd or the flock.
If the offering is a burnt offering from the herd, he is to offer a male without defect. He must present it at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting so that it will be acceptable to the Lord . He is to lay his hand on the head of the burnt offering, and it will be accepted on his behalf to make atonement for him. He is to slaughter the young bull before the Lord , and then Aaron’s sons the priests shall bring the blood and sprinkle it against the altar on all sides at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting. He is to skin the burnt offering and cut it into pieces. The sons of Aaron the priest are to put fire on the altar and arrange wood on the fire. Then Aaron’s sons the priests shall arrange the pieces, including the head and the fat, on the burning wood that is on the altar. He is to wash the inner parts and the legs with water, and the priest is to burn all of it on the altar. It is a burnt offering, an offering made by fire, an aroma pleasing to the Lord .
Pharisees
and Pagans?

I don’t see the Gods as overlords either. I see them as elders that one wants to be in their favor thus the offerings. We all do things to please our parents so why not the Gods?
Some Pagans have become beggars. They are offering ignoble, rotting carcasses hoping to win the favor of the Gods to increase their fortunes. Do they hope to appeal to the lowest of entities?
Judaism and Christianity have been subverting our beautiful and bright traditions for 1000s of years, by their own admission.
The Sibyllines:
Considering the chasm between the Jews and the pagans, it is remarkable with what zeal and cleverness the Hellenistic Jews sought under pagan masks to make propaganda for Judaism. They wrote works in the name of pagan authorities, and these stole their way into the circle of pagan readers. As forgeries of this kind were common in the Hellenistic period, no blame attached to any famous man for having committed them, and the Jews could not be expected to be superior to their time. The Sibylline Books are distinguished from all other works of this kind by their loftiness of purpose. It was their avowed object to reform paganism; while other contemporaneous works were merely intended to glorify the Jewish name; the former endeavored to act as Jewish missionaries, while the latter sought merely to make an impression. Collections of the Sibylline Oracles were kept in different places; they were an easy medium for religious propaganda, and Hellenistic Judaism, subsequently also Christianity, made clever use of them. The Poetic Edda wholly encourages wisdom (wise heart and mind), learning, intelligence, and warns against foolishness. Odin offers HIMSELF to himself to gain wisdom and knowledge. He even cautioning against excessive alcohol consumption and resulting loss of wit.
12. Less good than they say for the sons of men
is the drinking oft of ale:
for the more they drink, the less can they think
and keep a watch o’er their wits.
13. A bird of Unmindfulness flutters o’er ale feasts,
wiling away men’s wits:
with the feathers of that fowl I was fettered once
in the garths of Gunnlos below.
There is not one mention of animal sacrifice. Odin’s example is very clear. Instead Judeo-Christian falsehoods are being promoted as Pagan truths by a few. Empedocles (495 – 430 BC) 2+ millennia ago makes mention of changing customs, the unspeakable slaughter of bulls and blood drenched altars as “the greatest pollution”:
Will you not cease from the din of slaughter? Do you not see that you are devouring one another because of your careless way of thinking?
Perhaps it is from the Hellenistic Jewish influence? Some now consider this “ancestral tradition”, like circumcision, which is another Jewish blood sacrifice to appease some deranged being.
For me Paganism is not about worship/offerings but about Inspiration, to become like the Gods, who are family – advance yourself, family and nation through your own determination and pure purpose, create beauty.
