The Jewish Agency for Israel announced on Friday that the world’s Jewish population has reached 15.7 million, Israeli news outlets reported. According to Israeli media, the figures were released to mark the Jewish new year, Rosh Hashanah. The data showed that the global Jewish population grew by around 100,000 over the past year, The Times of Israel reported. It also stated that Israel accounts for 46 per cent of the world’s Jewry, similar to the previous year, with 8.5 million living in communities in the diaspora.
