Masked bandits take man, 70, on terror ride

A man in his 70s was taken on a terror ride through Melbourne’s eastern suburbs by masked men this morning.

Police said the Boronia man was confronted by several men wearing balaclavas at Elsie Street, Boronia, at about 8.30am.

The armed men assaulted and robbed him, then dragged him into his own car, taking him to several places.

Police were alerted at 9.30am, after reports that the victim’s 1997 white Ford sedan was being driven erratically in Berringa Road, Park Orchards.

Police were also told several people in the car were wearing balaclavas.

The victim was dropped off in Chirnside Park just before 10.30am,  where he knocked on the door of a house in Meadow Gate Drive and the occupant called police.

The victim’s vehicle was found a short time later in Chirnside Park and police have closed several scenes in the area as they investigate the incident.
