A dozen people, including two ten-year-olds, have been arrested for stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of property.

Police say the group broke in to as many as three homes a night during April.

They stole beer and boardshorts, phones and footballs, cars and even a few chillies.

The youngest of the thieves are just ten, the oldest 28.

Senior Sergeant Daniel Shean says he expects to make more arrests.

“A majority of them were known to police or have had dealings with police in the past,” he said.

“Those 12 people are essentially responsible for well over $200,000 dollars worth of stolen property, a number of unlawful entries around the Darwin and Palmerston areas, and $20,000-plus in criminal damage.”

Police are urging people in Darwin and Palmerston to lock their doors at night.
