Bahraini activists said the body of Salah Abbas Habib was found near Abu Saiba, about 12 kilometers (7.5 miles) west of the capital Manama, on Saturday.
Habib had gone missing since Friday, when clashes broke out between Bahraini police and anti-regime demonstrators in the area.
The man is the ninth victim of the ongoing regime crackdown since March 17, 2012.
Press TV has conducted an interview with Jafar al-Hasabi, Bahraini political activist, to share his opinion on this issue. The following is a rough transcription of the interview.
Press TV: Let us look at it. There is some that says that it does not make any difference if Formula One is holding a race there or not. Why do you think it is significant that Formula One seems to be continuing to go on with the holding of this race in Bahrain?
Al-Hasabi: I think the artificial surgery which the authority and the royal family is trying to show the world that there is nothing except the event of Formula One and the other events which it does not give any income to the Bahraini people except the killing of the Bahrainis.
We know that today someone has been killed, martyr Salah Abbas Habib has been killed in cold blood and thrown into a garden or a roof and also the rally which is not being seen by the world which is everyday and the demonstration which is not stopped yet since the 14th of February until now and it is increasing and it is continuing in a peaceful manner.
But the double standard from the international community and the head of it, the United States and some of the European countries, they do not want any movement on the ground in Bahrain or in the [Persian] Gulf.
As you know, there is fluid of oil comes in the interest of–say it–the Israelis, is the big issue for them. But the killing in Bahrain is ignored by this international community which is making people frustrated and they might go for beyond this peaceful and this is what might expect in the next–let us say–years.
So we do not know what is going on with the ignorance from the international community.
