Days of Palestine, West Bank -An Israeli border guard was filmed on Sunday evening knocking disabled Palestinian off his wheelchair. Why did he do this?

The crime was documented by a Palestinian, using his mobile phone to take footage for Israeli war crimes taking place around his house in the West Bank city of Al-Khalil.

According to eyewitnesses, who were present before the incident took place, the disabled Palestinian, who was identified as Majid al-Fakhouri, 50, put his life in danger just to offer any kind of help for the 13-year-old Palestinian girl Yasmin al-Zaro.

Al-Zaro was bleeding after she was shot by the Israeli border guards in the area, claiming she planned to stab one of them. However, no proofs were found showing she intended to stab anyone.

The girl was left bleeding and fighting death in front of her relatives and neighbours, while the Israeli border guards prevented anyone from helping her.

‘I am a human’

Looking at the Israeli border guards surrounding the girl, who was fighting death, and preventing anyone from approaching her, Al-Fakhouri, despite his disability, decided to take the lead and do something.

“I arrived at the scene to help and rescue the girl, who was fighting death in front of the Israeli border guards,” Al-Fakhouri told Days of Palestine, “I am a human and I did only what a human is expected to do.”

“After I had made my way towards her,” he said, “I spoke with the Israeli border guards, who were insulting people and preventing them from helping the girl, but one of them yelled at me, told me to go home and brutally pushed my wheelchair backwards.”

The disabled man was evacuated from the scene by two of his sons, and girl remained bleeding for a while before she was evacuated to an Israeli hospital.

Like thousands of times when Israeli soldiers assault and killed Palestinians, Israeli officials said that they would investigate this incident.

Human rights groups doubted that the Israeli occupation authorities would conduct an objective investigation into the incident. They said that many of such incident have gone unpunishable.

When Al-Fakhouri was asked why the Israeli soldier pushed him, he said: “Because he is not a human.”
