(Jewish Telegraph Agency) When Donald Trump entered the White House as president in 2017, he was apparently under the naive impression that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had sincere intentions of making peace with the Palestinians — an error in judgment that just may have cost him his re-election:

In an explosive break with one of his closest allies, Donald Trump used an expletive in April to criticize then-Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for congratulating Joe Biden on his 2020 election win. In an interview with Axios’ Barak Ravid, Trump added that in his view, Netanyahu “did not want to make peace” in the Middle East.

Ravid conducted the interview, which will be published on Monday, in April for his upcoming book on the Abraham Accords. “I liked Bibi. I still like Bibi. But I also like loyalty,” Trump told Ravid. “The first person to congratulate Biden was Bibi. And not only did he congratulate him, he did it on tape.” Netanyahu waited over 12 hours from the time the election was called and was not the first foreign leader to congratulate Biden.

“I haven’t spoken to him since,” Trump added. “F— him.” Israel’s N12 news broadcaster published audio of Trump’s statement on Thursday night. Trump also told Ravid that “Bibi did not want to make peace,” using Netanyahu’s nickname. “Never did.”

Ravid only published excerpts of his interview on Axios on Thursday, and it’s not clear from them what Trump is referring to in the “peace” comments. But there was friction between the two leaders in the wake of the Trump administration’s plan to address the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, released in early 2020.

At the time, Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, unveiled a “peace vision” that would have allowed Israel to annex parts of the West Bank — something Netanyahu had long desired and pledged to do during political campaigns — but only if there was Palestinian buy-in within four years of the announcement. The Palestinians declined, but rather than wait for the Trump negotiators to try and advance the vision within its four-year window, Netanyahu launched plans to annex part of the territory. Kushner implored him to slow the process down.

The annexation talk killed any hope of eventual Palestinian buy-in and proposed an obstacle for the Trump negotiators’ efforts to broker the Abraham Accords — normalization deals between Israel and four Arab nations. Netanyahu backed down in the face of pressure from the United States and the United Arab Emirates, and the Abraham Accords, which normalized relations with the UAE and Bahrain, and soon thereafter Sudan and Morocco, proceeded.

In another interview with Ravid in July, Trump repeated his criticisms of Netanyahu. “Well, I like him, but he has been there a long time,” he said, adding: “I can tell you that people were very angry with him when he was the first one to congratulate Biden.” Trump suggested in that interview that Netanyahu’s congratulatory video call to Biden “hurt him badly with the people of Israel.”

“As you know, I’m very popular in Israel. I think it hurt him very badly,” Trump said.

Back in 2019 Trump bragged that he’s so popular in Israel that he could be elected prime minister — perhaps even implying that he could do so in a head-to-head election with Netanyahu himself.

Indeed, in the words of one Jewish political pundit, Trump was the “greatest president for Jews and Israel in the history of the world” — and to show just how much they loved him, the Israelis named some land they stole from the Palestinians after Trump.

But Trump was so enamored with himself — and so overrated his importance and influence with the Israelis — that he didn’t realize pushing the Israelis to the negotiating table with the Palestinians or making any concessions to them at all basically ensures that you will either be driven out of office, not re-elected — or assassinated if proven to be particularly recalcitrant.

Trump apparently was not aware that during his tenure in office documents declassified by the C.I.A. revealed that the Israelis never intended to honor any agreements with the Palestinians — and had every intention of wiping the Palestinians off the map and taking all their “disputed” land for themselves.

When Trump recently admitted that Israel completely controls the U.S. Congress, no one in the Zionist-dominated media complained — remarkable considering that same media portrayed him as the second coming of Adolf Hitler.

And, yes, Israel does control Congress — and the U.S. elections — a leaked FBI document in 2019 revealed that Trump would not have been elected president without the “direct intervention of Israel” — not “Russia” — Israel.

But Trump was not only popular in Israel, but he was also popular in the U.S. — and if there is anything that Jews cannot tolerate is a sitting U.S. president that is too popular and has a mandate from the people — like Ronald Reagan.

If re-elected, Trump could use that popular mandate to force Israel to the negotiating table with the Palestinians — but Israel simply could not risk that possibility — so they brazenly rigged the election in favor of the senile Joe Biden who was incapable of tying his own shoelaces let alone brokering some sort of peace deal with the Palestinians.

With historically low approval ratings — and his penchant for fondling children — Joe Biden would be in no position to dictate to the Israelis any policies that they don’t write for him themselves — which is how they like their U.S. presidents.

And by congratulating Biden so quickly after the election — knowing full well that Trump was rightfully contesting the blatantly bogus results — Netanyahu wanted to send Trump a clear and unequivocal message — despite all the personal favors he did for Netanyahu and Sheldon Adelson, like moving the embassy to Jerusalem and allowing Israel to annex the Golan Heights.

No matter how much Trump did for the Jews, it would never be enough — in fact, he openly complained that Jews in America were “ungrateful” — something Harry Truman found out in 1947 when the Zionists tried to assassinate him for not moving fast enough on their demands for officially recognizing Israel. Truman wrote in his diary,

The Jews have no sense of proportion nor do they have any judgment on world affairs….The Jews, I find, are very, very selfish. They care not how many Estonians, Latvians, Finns, Poles, Yugoslavs or Greeks get murdered or mistreated as D[isplaced] P[erson]s as long as the Jews get special treatment. Yet when they have power, physical, financial or political neither Hitler nor Stalin has anything on them for cruelty or mistreatment to the under dog.

Did it even occur to Trump that the Israelis — after having ensured his election in 2016 — would turn around and rig it against him only 4 years later even after he did almost everything they demanded?

It’s not as if Trump doesn’t know what Jews are really like — calling them “killers” and “not nice people” — the kind of people who throw their “best friends” under the bus for the slightest transgressions.

If not the Israelis, who did Trump think had the means, motive and opportunity to rig the election against him?
