Second man charged over Sydney shootings

A second man has been charged as investigations continue into four Sydney shootings in December and January.

Strike Force Lowland was established to investigate the attempted murder of two men who were fired on at a Rockdale shopping centre on December 13 last year.

That investigation was widened to include drive-by shootings at homes at Auburn and Arncliffe on January 9 and at a Rockdale tanning salon on January 26.

Police say the four shootings could be linked.

As a result, detectives arrested a 34-year-old man in Punchbowl on Wednesday afternoon after raiding his Padstow Heights home.

Items were seized for forensic examination. The man was charged with possess prohibited pistol and offer to supply prohibited pistol.

He was refused bail to face Bankstown Local Court on Thursday.

Also on Tuesday, a 16-year-old boy was arrested and later charged with possessing prohibited pistol.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Parramatta Children’s Court on May 2.
